Guangdong has been China's leading growth powerhouse and is an example of China's successes in economic reform. Over the past three decades., Guangdong has maintained an annual average gross domestic product (GDP) growth rate of 13.7 percent. In 2007, the province's GDP constituted approximately one-eighth of the national total. If the province were an economy, it would be the fourteenth largest in the world
